Inspired by this post!
I always wanted to create some sort of rant about this sort of thing, well. Now I’m going to.
Creating and roleplaying an OC has to be one of the scariest things about being a roleplayer. Honestly, you don’t know how people are going to react towards the character you spent a ton of time creating. You have no idea if the hard work you just did is going to be put to waste because people will ignore you. It’s honestly really something you have to take a risk on.
Even making changes to a canon character could be risky (coming from someone who runs two femvenger blogs). You have no idea if you’re going to be ignored or disliked.
People who run OC blogs and mixed-canon blogs have to be some of the bravest roleplayers in my eyes. They take a huge risk and in all honesty they get shot down alot. I know in my time on here I have been, and to be honest it does bother me so I know how everyone else feels.
To anyone who runs and OC blog, keep up the good work, I’m sure your character is just as amazing as any sort of canon character if not better! Just because a few people are asses and ignore you doesn’t mean everyone will. I’ve kept a group of four people who always reply and talk to me and they are amazing and without them I probably wouldn’t have stayed.
I want to thank them right now as well, both mun & muse because they are all lovely.
- RedSpydey - One of the first people to EVER roleplay with this character, and guess what? To this day Annalee and Micheal still continue the para they’ve had going since I started this account. I love this roleplayer, and they are amazing both IC & OOC. Brilliant plot ideas and very kind.
- RichardParkersSon - Not only the person who inspired me to write this but the best spider man/Peter Parker rolplayer I have come across. The mun is super sweet (not to mention funny, and entertaining to speak to) and she’s an amazing writer. This was the first canon character to stick with my OC all this time, and continue to roleplay all the crazy ideas I have. Lets face it, they are so awesome.
- PoisonousWidowsBite - The first and only Natasha to have accepted Annalee immediately as her daughter. Not to mention answer to posts I created without having to be badgered to reply later on because she was kind enough to keep replying. The mun is always super nice and creative and is one of the reasons I kept Annalee the way she was instead of changing her parentage. We might not roleplay alot, but I still love her none the less.
- SonOf-TheSun - Annalee’s half brother from her mothers side, not to mention one of the few people I actually allowed her to become close to. Why? Because the roleplayer is great and always interacts with her even during the most insane situations, involving snakes and many M!A’s. The mun is absolutely sweet as well and has made this mun’s day more than once with their kindness.
There are people who will accept the fact that you’re an OC character, not everyone is a snob, and not everyone is strictly canon. There is someone or many who will accept your character just the way they are.

I mean really, I’m insane and my plots are always everywhere.
“Exactly how long am I grounded for again?” Annalee huffed softly as she looks out the window of the house. Her hands distracting themselves with repositioning the curtains over and over again. Her tone of voice stubborn and cross towards her fathers punishment.
“For sneaking out in the middle of the night? With that boy? Then almost getting caught in some sort of shoot out? Which is why your mother has banned you from even stepping foot near any weapons by the way” Clint looks over at his daughter, his tone stern with disappointment lacing his voice. “Again, until I decide that you aren’t right now your punishment can be considered infinite”.
She lets out a deep sigh of annoyance trying not to lose her temper or become disrespectful towards her father. “That’s far from fair! Weren’t you ever a teenager! We get in-trouble! It’s not my fault I have to carry a gun around. It’s part of this lifestyle! You of all people should know that!” She exclaims the last word before continuing her earlier task.Ignoring her fathers look that bores into her back.
“Don’t get snappy with me because you made poor choices and don’t want to take the responsibility of your actions” He glances over at her “This punishment is final, go upstairs and to your room” He looks away from her shaking his head.
It’s been months since either Clint or Natasha have seen their daughter. She had gone away on an important mission, Fury had chosen her specifically for the task. Her parents knew she would do fine, she was as talented at her job as they were with both their strengths and talents mixed into one person. They still worried about her when Director Fury had cut off all communications and updates about the mission. For all they knew she could be captured and unable to get herself out of a mess she had gotten involved in.
That was until one morning when the sound of their front door opens around three AM. The sound wakes both sleeping Agents as the sneak into the room where the sound is coming from, guns in hand. Clint is the first to move, a sudden movement causes him to point his gun in the direction of a now well lit figure of his young daughter “Annalee? Is that you?”. His guns aim dropping back down to the floor as Natasha peers into the room, a smile beginning on her lips. Annalee stops mid step and looks down to both of her parents, nodding to their weapons. “I’m sorry I didn’t call, but there’s no reason to shoot me over it” Her lips curving up into a smile that resembles Natasha’s as her father sighs in relief at seeing her. A low chuckle rolling past his lips as he shakes his head.
